ADHD Coaching

College with ADHD

You’re Not Alone And You Don’t Have to Do This Alone.

Starting college is an exciting milestone — new freedom, new friendships, new ideas, and the chance to pursue your passions. But for students with ADHD, the transition can come with extra hurdles that most people don’t see.

Managing your time, keeping track of assignments, staying focused during long lectures, and juggling everything on your plate — it can become very overwhelming, very fast. Even when you're working hard, it might seem like you're constantly playing catch-up. Deadlines sneak up. To-do lists feel impossible. And that nagging thought creeps in: “Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”

You’re not imagining it. And you’re definitely not alone.

Many college students with ADHD struggle with things like organization, follow-through, short-term memory, and motivation — skills that college life demands every day. The result? Stress, burnout, and what’s often called “Imposter Syndrome” — the belief that you don’t belong, that you were somehow let in by mistake, and that everyone else has it figured out.

At Katy Child Psychology Associates (KCPA), we get it. We know how ADHD can quietly chip away at confidence and create roadblocks to success — even when you're putting in the effort. That’s why we created our College ADHD Coaching Program: a personalized support system designed to build real-world strategies for focus, planning, and confidence.

What is ADHD Coaching?

ADHD Coaching is a process that involves meeting with a professional who has expertise in educating, guiding, and problem-solving with others (clients) who have weaknesses in attention, working memory, planning, organization, time-management, and other executive functioning skills.

The ADHD Coach will work with each client to assess their strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and determine what strategies are likely to be the best match. The ADHD Coach also spends time educating the client about the characteristics of ADHD, to increase their understanding and self-awareness. Instruction in new systems, skills, and routines (the strategies) is provided, and the ADHD Coach assists each client in learning how to utilize/apply these things in a consistent manner during daily activities. Hopefully, with enough repetition over time, new habits will be established.

Another way of putting it, is that ADHD Coaching is kind of like “tutoring for ADHD”. Depending on your preference, there are options for small-group learning, one-on-one guidance, or a combination of both.

The Process

What is the process for ADHD Coaching at KCPA?

Step 1: The Client will complete a registration form, and will coordinate with the office manager (Nathalie) about scheduling an initial introductory meeting with the ADHD Coach.

Step 2: The ADHD Coach will meet with the Client for the initial introductory meeting, which will include conducting the pre-assessment, setting goals, and discussing next steps.

Step 3: The Client will select their coaching package, and attend individual (one-on-one) and/or group meetings accordingly:

  • Option A ($450): Weekly group seminar, different skills taught each week (6 sessions total)

  • Option B ($1120): Weekly individual, 1-hour sessions to learn specific skills, track progress, and problem-solve, as needed (8 sessions)

  • Option C ($675): Weekly group seminars (6 total) described in Option A above, AND weekly “check-in” 30-minute coaching sessions (6 total).

Step 4: Client will complete post- coaching self-assessment form.

Step 5: Client will enter “maintenance” phase, which can include individual sessions once every month or two (30-minutes = $70; 60-minutes = $140), or as agreed upon by the Client and ADHD Coach.
